Did you know that 50% of women over the age of 50 experience hair loss? That’s incredible isn’t it. Female hair loss is something that we don’t really talk about – and we really should! You may have suffered hair loss for one of the following reasons:
- Pregnancy or menopause – hormone related hair loss.
- Female pattern baldness.
- Medical treatments such as chemotherapy.
- Medication conditions, such as thyroid disorder.
- Injury to trauma to your scalp, including damage from hair extensions or chemical procedures.
Whilst I’m sure you’ve found many ways to disguise our hair loss with the help of some clever styling, it doesn’t really take the anxiety away, does it? Do you still worry that the wind will blow and expose your scalp? Maybe you avoid swimming, so your hair doesn’t get wet? Read Alice’s story below to discover how scalp tattooing help her regain her confidence and get back to enjoying life!
Alice's Story - Female Hair loss
Alice came for treatment, after losing her hair as a result of pregnancy. Pregnancy related hair loss is common, although not something you were probably warned about! Alice had really hoped that it would grow back after the birth of her baby, but years later, her hair remained thin and there were no signs of re-growth.
Alice was a young mum, full of life and personality, one of life’s true characters. When you meet her, she’s immediately warm and engaging. She showed me pictures of her on holiday with her family, where she immediately zoomed in to show me the sun hitting her scalp and shared how much she hated it. I saw a picture of a wonderful family on holiday, Alice focused only on how much she disliked how her hair looked. It was obvious that her hair loss really affected her confidence.
Having once loved going on holiday, jumping around with her family and enjoying life, it was now all tainted with how she felt about her hair. Alice even avoided looking in mirrors as she didn’t want to look at her hair. She told me that she even deleted pictures where she felt her thin hair was on show, it was always a point of focus for her.
During her treatment sessions, it became really obvious how much Alice’s thinning hair had affected her confidence. She had her hair styled to try and disguise her thinning hair, rather than having the style she truly wanted, and she avoided doing things that would make it even more obvious, like swimming. Wow, how that changed by the end of her treatment!
After three sessions of scalp micropigmentation, Alice’s confidence was transformed! I loved seeing her confidence grow through her sessions. Alice came to see me a few weeks after her final treatment, and she told me that she loved looking in the mirror now, she couldn’t stop looking at how thick her hair looked! She had stopped worrying about anyone seeing her exposed scalp, and she returned to living her life, without the worry of her hair. When I saw her a few months later, she’d completely changed her hairstyle to one that suited her vibrant personality too.
So, it might just seem like micro dots, but the transformation is one that affected every area of Alice’s life, and gave her the freedom to get on with having fun! If you would like to put your hair loss worries behind you, then please get in touch. I’d love to be able to help you too. Nikki

What is Scalp Micropigmentation?
Scalp micropigmentation is the perfect long term solution to help you disguise your hair loss. You’ll be amazed at the incredibly natural results, and the freedom & confidence that you will have so that you can get on with enjoying your life.
Follicle simulation technique gives you the most natural results. This involves tattooing thousands of micro dots onto your scalp, to replicate your natural hair follicle pattern. This is a highly advanced and effective form of scalp micropigmentation, providing the most natural and realistic results for you.
I use pigments specifically made for this treatment, ensuring that your colour fades out naturally over time, without turning a funny colour! This is considered a permanent treatment, although you will need a colour boost approximately every 4-6 years to keep the colour looking fresh. I am a real believer in ‘future proofing’ my treatments, so it is important to me that your pigment fades out naturally over time thereby providing the most natural result.
