DOES RADIOFREQUENCY MICRONEEDLING WORK?

‘ Does radiofrequency microneedling work ?’ is the number one question I’m asked about this treatment. The second is ‘does it hurt’! (I always say it’s ‘a little bit spicy’, but it’s more discomfort than pain).

So YES, radiofrequency microneedling really does work! It is hands down my most popular anti ageing facial treatment that I offer. The reason it’s so popular is because it targets multiple skin concerns at once – making it, in my opinion, THE single most powerful treatment. There aren’t many treatments that tackle multiple ageing skin concerns – but this one really does.

You’ll hear how passionate I am about it in my video, but read on to find out more!

What is radiofrequency microneedling?

We can’t really answer the question – Does radiofrequency microneedling work?, without first looking at what RF microneedling is.

Like all forms of microneedling, it’s a collagen induction treatment, which means that your skin is naturally boosted to increase it’s collagen production, and improves the quality of collagen present in your skin. Collagen is a protein, that is responsible for that lovely, glowing, plump skin we often have in our 20’s.

From our late 20’s our natural collagen levels decline (cruel, I know!). So microneedling is a clever way to stimulate your skin to boost it’s natural levels – making it one of the most powerful anti ageing treatments available.

The introduction of the thermal trauma from radiofrequency results in even more collagen being boosted, along with elastin – responsible for skin elasticity. The combination of radiofrequency and microneedling together, means that your skin tightens and lifts too! Bonus! Read on to find out what radiofrequency microneedling can help with.

What are the benefits of RF microneedling?

Does radiofrequency microneedling work? Well – you can see from this picture that the answer is a ‘YELL YEAH!’! My lovely client is in her mid 70’s, and the improvements on her skin have been amazing – as they been with many of my other clients.

The beauty of radiofrequency microneedling, as I mentioned previously, is that you get multiple benefits. So, lets have a look at some of the benefits you can expect to see, shall we:

  • Reduced lines & wrinkles.
  • Improved skin tone and skin texture.
  • Tighter, firmer skin.
  • More even skin tone.
  • Softer, smoother skin.
  • Tightening & lifting effect, fabulous for saggy jowls, turkey neck.
  • Reduction in pigmentation and sun damage.
  • Less visible pores.

As a non surgical face lift treatment, it works beautifully with HIFU, which picks up where radiofrequency microneedling leaves off – treating the skin at multiple layers.

RF microneedling is also very effective on the body, so if you have saggy skin on your arms or tummy, it’s great for that. And, it’s also my superhero treatment for treating scars and stretchmarks too!

How many treatments of RF microneedling will I need?

who can have radiofrequency microneedling

Happy that I’ve answered the question ‘Does radiofrequency microneedling work?’ – I hope so!

Are you now wondering how many sessions you’ll need? It’s a common question. The answer is, it depends on where we’re starting from, and the results you’d like to achieve.

There are a number of factors to take into account: Your age, skin type, skin condition, skin concerns – and ultimately, your goals – and what you’d like to achieve.   It’s typically a minimum of 3-6 treatments for skin rejuvenation, spaced 3-4 weeks apart. You then move into a maintenance program of 2-4 times a year. Often, RF microneedling is part of a wider skin transformation program, to ensure you get the best possible results. With all of my skin transformation programs, it’s tailored specifically to you – so there isn’t a standard ‘package’, as everyone has different skin, and different needs.  The best thing to do is to book a consultation, so we can have a chat about your skin goals.  You can do that on the link below.

Does radiofrequency microneedling work on it's own?

This is a question I’m never asked, but one I always answer – and always have in the back of my mind. As your skin is the largest organ of your body, it responds to everything you do from the inside out, and the outside in.

Radiofrequency microneedling alone won’t give you your best possible skin. The truth is, that if you’re highly stressed, not sleeping well, not eating nutritious food, or you’re a smoker – then you won’t see the best possible results. These things all have an effect on your skin. When we’re working together, we look at all of the factors that affect your skin, to ensure you get the best possible results. This may involve making some small lifestyle tweaks, or including supplements in your program.

And it will definitely involve wearing a sunscreen – if you’re not using a minimum factor 30 sunscreen all year round, I won’t treat you (I’m not joking!), watch my video below to find out why……you might be shocked!

Why is sunscreen important, and why won't I treat you if you're not using it?
