In answer to the question ‘Does RF microneedling tighten skin?’ – the simple answer is YES! Absolutely, it does tighten the skin – and a whole lot more too.

RF microneedling facial treatments have taken the aesthetics industry by storm in the last few months, and is without a doubt one of the ‘must have’ anti aging treatments of 2021 (alongside HIFU).

Maybe you’ve seen Judy Murray’s transformation of her ‘turkey neck’, that was splashed across the media publications earlier this year? Impressive results indeed, I’m sure you’ll agree.

Below, we will have a look at the benefits of RF microneedling, so you can consider whether it’s the right treatment for you.  You can always book a complimentary Zoom call, and we can have a chat about your skin concerns, and find the right treatment program for you.

Lets talk results!

I think a picture speaks a thousand words! So, in answer to ‘Does RF microneedling tighten skin?’ – I give you this picture!   This is the results just 3 weeks after my clients FIRST treatment.  Needless to say, she was delighted with these results.

Typically, you’ll have a course of 3-6 RF microneedling treatments, spaced 3-4 weeks apart.  You don’t have to treat the whole face, you can target specific areas, such as forehead, lower face, around your eyes – or, if you really want WOW results, you could go for full face and neck.

The number of treatments you’ll need will depend on your skin at the starting point, and the results you’d like to achieve. If you’re early 40’s, with fine lines and wrinkles, then 3 treatments may be enough. If you fall into late 40’s upwards, then 3-6 treatments will be recommended for you, and combining this with HIFU will create the ultimate in non-surgical face lift results, that I know you’ll love.

How does RF microneedling tighten skin?

RF microneedling combines the magic of skin needling, with the thermal element of radiofrequency – making a very powerful combination.

Microneedling creates tiny micropuctures in your skin, in what’s referred to as a ‘minor controlled trauma’. Don’t panic, this is very minor and is a clever little way of tricking your body into producing more collagen, as part of the natural healing process. Collagen is a natural protein that your body makes, and it’s something we are brilliant at producing in our early 20’s.  Unfortunately, our natural levels decline as we reach mid to late 20’s, which is why we often see the signs of aging creep in from our early 30’s. Consider microneedling as the ‘nudge’ for your skin, to help it up it’s collagen and elastin production – giving you back that gorgeous plump and glowing skin of your youth!

The RF element is thermal stimulation, where the needles emit radiofrequency (heat) into your skin, which further boosts collagen production and causes your skin to tighten and contract in response to the treatment – thereby giving you the tightening and lifting effect.

RF Microneedling - How does it feel?

Does RF microneedling tighten skin? YES.

Does RF microneedling hurt? Also YES! Well, it’s more discomfort than pain. I mean, I am sticking loads of needles into your skin multiple times – BUT, it is far more comfortable than you think (in most places).

As you can see from my face, it was pretty red afterwards – that’s normal and tends to go down with in a few hours.

During your treatment, you’ll find that some areas are a little more uncomfortable than others. I never want you over a 4-5/10 on the discomfort scale, so it’s entirely manageable. If you’re having scar treatments, you’ll have the option to pre-numb (although I don’t when I treat my own scars).

To be honest, you don’t really feel the discomfort from the radiofrequency, it’s more the needles that are literally a sharp shock.  The treatment is over fairly quickly, and we can have a chat, giggle, rant – whatever you like. You can swear, or meditate, or listen to music and zone out – whatever you need to be distracted.

I promise the results are more than worth this little window of ‘ouch’!

HIFU and Radiofrequency Microneedling - The perfect pair

If you are looking for the ultimate in non surgical face-lift results, then HIFU Treatment and radiofrequency microneedling are the perfect pair.  You have the amazing lifting and tightening effect of HIFU, combined with the incredible RF microneedling – which is great for treating lines & wrinkles, improving skin tone and also has a lifting and tightening effect.

RF Microneedling is great for targeting the upper layers of your skin, so you’ll see an improvement in lines, wrinkles, skin tone, skin laxity and overall aging signs.  HIFU is the powerhouse tightening and lifting treatment, targeting the deeper layers of the skin, including the SMAS layer, which is the layer that plastic surgeons work on during a face lift.

There isn’t a one size fits all program. We will work together to target your skin concerns and decide which treatments are best suited for your skin needs and goals. Often a combined approach is the most effective, and my clients love the illumiFacial IPL photofacial to treat their sun damage, for a truly amazing result!
